Lancaster Women’s Running Group is a small friendly group organised by a qualified running leaders, Sadie and Lindsay. The group is open to all ladies who would like to start running and is aimed at ladies at any level. We differentiate sessions so that all members can progress at their own level and no-one gets overwhelmed or feels like they should not be there. There is a focus on getting fit, making new friends, and having fun. I would like to inspire people to run and to enjoy their running like we do.
We run in various locations locally and change the location every two weeks. All runs scheduled will be published on this website and also displayed at The Runners Centre, Lancaster. Running locations include Williamson’s Park, Lancaster canal path, the cycle track (in any direction), Barton Road field and Lancaster University. We aim to keep our runs in the South of the city as many people struggle to get across town at rush hour time. A beginners running group (aimed at ladies who have never run at all before) is at 6pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays (a 30 minute session before the main session starts). This is a really good way to start running and gain some fitness and confidence before moving to the other group. The main group meets on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6.30pm.

We would like these runs to be sociable and of different distances and run on different surfaces with some being on trail routes (off road). Many ladies are at varying levels of fitness and speed so we adapt runs to suit everyone. Faster runners can ‘loop back’ to the back of the group if they go too far so that everyone is running together for a while. Faster runners can also run up side streets and paths to extend their runs before turning to re-join the group.
Each session costs £2 which is paid on the night or day of the session. We have kept the price as low as possible.
