I am Sadie, the owner of Run and Relax and as a keen runner I have a wealth of experience and qualifications. I used to work as a nurse and then a primary teacher but decided to take the fitness path as it was what I really wanted to do. I love being active especially outside. I understand how hard it is to motivate yourself sometimes, to eat healthily or get out and move if you don’t feel like it. I am very fit but I’m not a size 6 ‘gym bunny’, I am a normal person who enjoys life, a glass of wine, chocolate and other things some people frown on. Realistically we have to live our lives and enjoy it as well as trying to make healthy choices. Life isn’t about being as thin as possible and not having any fun or being hungry all the time. It is about being healthy (physically and mentally), fit and enjoying life.
I don’t preach – I encourage. I don’t shout – I motivate. I don’t judge – I empathise. I don’t tell you what to do – I make manageable suggestions. I don’t tell you to get child care – I watch baby during the session whilst you work out. I don’t always talk – I listen. I don’t get cross if you find something hard – I understand.
I build up a really close bond with my clients and really get to know them well. That way, the sessions can stay challenging but enjoyable. Many clients stay with me for years.
I have been running since 2001 and also cycle, swim (in a fashion!) and take part in triathlons, run marathons and other races. I started running after signing up for The Race for Life. At that time, although I had always been active, I had not run further than a couple of miles. After the initial panic I started training and realised how great running was. I loved the high feeling after every run and soon became hooked and began my running and fitness qualifications.
Like most runners, I have had my fair share of injuries including stress fractures, pulled muscles and broken ankles therefore first hand experience as well as formal qualifications enable me to treat individual problems for clients.
If you look around the site you will find lots of information about running, fitness training, health, cross training and races. You can also read about the Personal Training services I offer.
There is plenty of information and advice about different aspects of running and personal views on various issues related to running and health. Although there is a huge amount of knowledge out there it is sometimes difficult to find information on specific points that are relevant to you and situations that you can identify with.
If you have any questions or queries please fill in the contact form on my website. Also if you feel you would like me to write about an aspect of running or health that I have not covered please feel free to make suggestions. I try to ensure all my information is accurate but if you feel I am incorrect in anything written in my blog feel free to make comments or suggestions.
