LWRG raise money for CancerCare in Chester Marathon
Nine members of Lancaster Women’s Running Group are running the Chester Marathon in October, to raise money for CancerCare North Lancashire and South Lakeland. For seven of the ladies this will be their first marathon. Anna ran Windermere with me earlier this year.
Training is going well so far. There have been slight niggles in various body parts but these have been sorted out by Sports Massage and stretching. The ladies are very keen and determined to train well for the big day and starting to use full body workouts and core work to compliment their running training.
We run some of the long runs as a group and some individually. Race refueling preparation is really important on these long runs and we were lucky enough to be given some High 5 packs to test out including gels, Sports drink tablets and recovery protein powder.

Any amount, large or small will make a huge difference and will really inspire us to get to the finish line when the going gets tough. Marathons are hard work, it really helps when you have a good reason for doing it!
