Who can run? Lancaster Women’s Running Group

The simple answer to this is that most people can run if they really want to.

About our group.

The Lancaster Women’s Running Group are an all female running group lead by a qualified running leaders Sadie Mckeand. I work on a simple philosophy that will give all women, whatever their age, size or ability, the opportunity to run together to improve their health, fitness, confidence and safety. Membership to the group is £60 per year paid April to April.

As a leader I have completed a Leadership course and hold a licence to lead under United Kingdom Athletics. As the groups are relatively small and local, you will be given individual attention and your group leader will know you personally. I am also a fitness instructor, Personal Trainer, Sports Massage Therapist, nurse and teacher. In those capacities I can give you advice about many issues. For information about my other services look at the other pages on this website or contact me using the contact form.

Why An All-Women Group?

Our groups are fun, social, non-competitive and open to every age, stage, shape and size. We genuinely support the complete beginner and by being all women, we find that our members feel less self-conscious.

But I Have Never Run Before!

We welcome women just like you. The Lancaster Womens Running Group caters for women of all running abilities, including the complete beginner. Even if you are unfit or have never run before, we can help you get started, giving you sensible advice, support and company while you run. We will help you to identify and reach your goals.

There are two different groups, the main group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm and some Saturdays at 10am. These sessions are an hour long although walking breaks and stops are allowed! There is a beginners/improvers running group which meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5.30pm and we run/walk for roughly 45 minutes. This is for ladies who have never run before and the goal is to get you fit enough to join the other group without it being too much for you. If you cannot attend any of these sessions but still want to start running you can book individual running sessions with me. The first consultation is free if you book a series of 10 sessions. These sessions we would work out an achievable plan from your goals such as weight loss or increasing fitness.

We would then meet once or twice a week and have a running session at your own level. This may be needed to start off your fitness regime and once you are in the habit of a healthy lifestyle you can go it alone. I also look at diet and complete nutritional analysis for those needing some support and advice about how they can make small changes to their daily diet to make the maximum impact.
